Sonja van Ockenburg works as an internist-endocrinologist at the UMCG and focuses on hereditary metabolic diseases. As an internist, she treats patients who experience symptoms across multiple organ systems. In addition to her clinical work, she teaches about fatigue and the recognition of rare diseases. She is also a member of the working group of the Dutch Internists Association (NIV) that is developing the multidisciplinary ME/CFS guideline. In her research activities, she coordinates the biomedical work package of ACTION, a Lifelines study on the causes of Post-COVID syndrome. As an internist, she will provide the necessary clinical input for various projects within ME/CFS Lines and is a member of the steering committee.
